Training Basics

Progressive overload, explained simply

AuraVia Team · 4 min read

If your workouts never get harder, your body has no reason to adapt. Progressive overload just means doing a little more over time — and there are more ways to do that than adding weight.

Five ways to progress

Change one thing at a time:

  • Add a rep to each set
  • Add a set
  • Add a little weight — 2 kg is plenty
  • Slow the movement down
  • Rest a little less between sets

How fast?

Aim to improve something every week or two, not every session. If a set feels much harder than last time, keep the same plan and try again next session.

Use the numbers

Our training calculator estimates your working weights from a recent set, so you know where to start and how much to add.

These are general training tips. If you're new to exercise or have a health condition, check with your doctor first. Product details are on each product page.
